There are a lot of ways to help kids, but one of the most effective ways to make our communities better for kids in the long term is legislative advocacy on their behalf. Quite simply, this means supporting laws and policies that are good for children and opposing ones that aren't. We also act as an expert resource on pediatric health care issues for policy makers.
Here at CCMC, we see hundreds of kids every day with immediate medical needs, from broken bones to burns to cancer. Our clinical work may be the most visible part of our mission, but advocacy is just as important. Advocacy is how we ensure that laws are passed that may help prevent injuries, for example, or give all kids access to health care.
Too often, kids don't have a voice in the decisions that affect them and their families. CCMC's advocacy efforts are aimed at making sure that kids' concerns are always heard when public policies are made.
