Overview | Staff | Links | Newsletters | Legal Info (by subject) | Case Summaries Jay Sicklick, J.D. - Director Education: Jay Sicklick began as the MLPP director in April 2000. Prior to this appointment, he served on the faculty of the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he held the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Law, teaching lawyering skills, and social welfare law. Mr. Sicklick was also a senior staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society's Bronx Neighborhood Office for six years, as well as a private practitioner in Boston. He currently holds the position of Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he teaches courses in legal ethics and professional responsibility. He is also a Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. He is employed as an attorney with the Center for Children's Advocacy at the law school. Gladys Nieves, J.D. - Senior Staff
Attorney Education: Gladys I. Nieves became the senior staff attorney with the Medical-Legal Partnership Project in May 2004. Prior to this appointment, she worked for three years as a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society, Juvenile Rights Division in the Bronx, New York. There she advocated on behalf of abused and neglected children in foster care and/or children under the supervision of the Administration for Children's Services. She also represented adolescents in PINS ("Persons in Need of Supervision") proceedings. Before working with the Legal Aid Society, Miss Nieves worked as a litigation associate at the law firm of Pryor, Cashman, Sherman & Flynn, as well as a paralegal for the New York County District Attorney's Office, Family Violence Bureau and the Miami Immigrant Advocacy Clinic. She is employed as an attorney with the Center for Children's Advocacy at the University of Connecticut School of Law. |
