Department
The Emergency Department is a Twenty-six bed unit with a four bed fast track area. We see an annual census approaching 45,000 patients a year.  We specialize in seeing patients from birth to seventeen years of age with a wide variety of medical, surgical,  oncological and behavioral health problems.  Our staff take part in the Pediatric Ground Transport, SANE(Sexual assault Nurse Examiner) and Pediatric Trauma Program.
Technology
Emergency Medicine/Nursing is a fast paced environment that is both challenging and educational to its participants.   Our newly renovated department utilizes computerized charting, digital radiography and order entry to assist with wide array of needs seen by our patients.
Nurses
We have an excellent group of nurses that work as an efficient team to be accomplished through a team nursing and utilize an interdisciplinary approach to meet the needs of the individual as well as their families.  A wide variety of nursing protocols set up in the department provide our Nurses with a certain level of autonomy.  The Emergency Department values the input of its members. It has six workgroups which help guide  the department: Quality, Computer Information Services, Education, Operations, Practice & Research and Trauma.
Orientation
We provide individualized and comprehensive orientation programs for both the new graduates as well as experienced   and seasoned veteran to ensure that our patients are approached with competence and confidence.
