Department
The Department of Radiology at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center provides imaging services to children from birth to adulthood.  We offer state-of-the-art imaging technologies in an environment that is safe and pleasant for patients and their families.
The Department of Radiology performs approximately 55,000 imaging studies a year.  We provide services for inpatients, surgical patients and emergency department patients, as well as a large outpatient community.  Our staff of highly trained pediatric radiologists, physicians, technologists, nurses and child life specialists are experts at obtaining the best images for a timely and accurate diagnosis of a child’s condition.

    • GE AMX4, AMX4+ Portable
    • Toshiba & Shimadzu Fluoroscopy
    • Siemens Emotion 6 CT Scanner
    • Siemens Avanto Magnetom 1.5T MRI Scanner
    • Siemen’s Acuson Sequoia Ultrasound Scanner
    • Siemen’s Antares Portable Ultrasound Scanner
Staff
We have a staff of highly trained technologists that work together as a team to meet the needs of our patient’s and families. 

Radiology Staffing Requirements:

Radiologic Technologist 1

  • ARRT registered Radiography
  • State of Connecticut License

Radiologic Technologist 2

  • ARRT registered Radiography
  • ARRT registered Cat Scan
  • State of Connecticut License

Radiologic Technologist 3

  • ARRT registered Radiography
  • ARRT registered Cat Scan
  • ARRT registered MRI
  • State of Connecticut License

Ultrasonographer

    • ARDMS registered Abdomen
    • Pediatric experience preferred
Orientation
Newly hired staff participates in a thorough orientation program including hospital and departmental orientation. Basic clinical skills related to imaging services are reviewed and validated.  Validations are a time for new staff to demonstrate their clinical competencies while providing supervised care.  Upon demonstration of clinical competencies new staff will work independently in a highly supportive, collaborative team environment.
Scheduling
We provide imaging services 24/7. We offer a variety of day and evening shifts with weekend responsibilities. Part-time and Per-diem opportunities available
Educational Opportunities
The Radiology Department prides itself in providing ongoing education.  We have one full time Clinical Educator to help facilitate orientation, clinical competencies and students rotating through our department. 
There are monthly meetings that address in-service education, QA, peer review and clinical problem solving.  These meetings are submitted to ARRT for CEU requirements.  In addition continuing education support is provided through the hosting of our annual Radiology Pedi Conference.
